Every year during National Public Health Week and National Minority Health Month (April), the Illinois Dept. of Public Health recognizes individuals and organizations for their efforts in promoting health, prevention and advancing health equity. This year, Proviso Partners for Health and Loyola’s School based Health Center at Proviso East High School (www.loyolasbhc.org/ ) have been given this award.

These honorees, known as Public Health Champions, demonstrate leadership, courage, and commitment in their support and efforts to improve the community's health.  Furthermore, honorees are considered forward-thinking and visionary in striving to develop and implement innovative programs.
