The Proviso East Giving Garden

Our Story:
The Giving Garden is an urban farm training program for high school students.
The Spark  A new business owner donated land that could promote the well-being of High School students. 
Flame  Partners from schools, health, businesses, and community worked in alignment to build the garden as a site to grow, learn, and sell food. The youth leaders created a mission for themselves to use plants in the service of others at the garden.  
Results  14 summer jobs created, 32 students trained, 300 lbs of food grown, and 2 micro-businesses supported. 
Vision  The Giving Garden is working to become a  social enterprise that uses market forces to create a healthier food environment.
